Update from DMRC Armaan Children's Home

Its Nena here just giving a brief update on how the projects been going for Hester, Rianna, Joy, Sophie and I who are working at the other childrens shelter. We have been playing with the children and teaching them basic english and maths and will find it very hard to leave them tomorrow.

Wednesday's update

Last night, we had a traditional indian meal.  No signs of Delhi Belly.....yet!

Have finished another day at the Salaam Balak Trust project in Delhi.  We've got through 60 pens and 500 sheets of paper, so went to the stationery shop to buy more supplies for tomorrow's activities.  We're now researching ideas for an Origami lesson tomorrow.

New school minibus

We've seen a good idea for the new minibus for Harris Academy Bromley!

At Apna Ghar Boy's Shelter

Isabel, Amy, Gemma and Emaline are working at Apna Gahr Boy's Shelter (Salaam Balak Trust).
First full day with the kids.  So embarassed when we tried to teach them how to make paper aeroplanes and they made better ones than us! Played lots of games and they all drew pictures for us.  The rest of the team are at a different shelter and we'll update their progress later.

Bye for now!

Salaam Balak Trust and Pizza Hut!

Blog Entry No 1

Hi
We've found and settled ourselves in a hotel for our duration in New Delhi.  Everyone is fine.  We are yet to have a traditional Indian meal but are going to ease our way into the spice.
So far we've seen some lovely markets and some not so nice slums.  It's strange to see such wealth next to such poverty.
The heat is unexplainably unbearable; we have never been so grateful for air conditioning and have been coping thanks to cold showers!
Started project today and met the kids.  We've never seen as much excitement over a camera before.
So far it's been a mixure of emotions but still looking forward to the upcoming weeks.
From the India team x

PS  Sorry for the lack of blog for the first couple of days.  Internet access is not as widespread as you would think.!
